CIB investigating possible child stealing ring

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Branch are probing what is believed to be a child stealing ring.

This follows the abduction of a five week old baby from his mother on Sunday.

Investigators are searching for a group of persons, including two women, said to be involved in the criminal network.

According to a police report, the 17 year old mother was walking with her baby, Nyyear Frank, on Rousseau Road in St. Andrew about 5 o'clock Sunday afternoon, when a seven seater vehicle with a red plate drove up.

A man with dreadlocks and a birth mark to the side of his neck exited the vehicle.

He reportedly dragged the teenager and her baby into the vehicle which sped off.

It is reported that the woman tried to jump from the moving vehicle with her baby.

The man took her child and her cellphone and pushed her from the moving vehicle resulting her injuring her arm and legs.

Based on a statement given by the teenager, investigators believe two women assisted the men in stealing the baby.

One of the women reportedly befriended her on social media and promised to give her items for her baby.

The mother was reportedly on the phone with one of the women when the car with the men drove up.

The cops are trying to determine whether the incident is part of a child stealing ring.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of five week-old Nyyear Frank, or the persons involved in the incident, to contact the Half Way Tree Police Station at 876-926-8184, Crime Stop at 311, the 119 emergency number or the nearest police station.
