Citizens urged to check for defects on water connections

In the wake of the worsening water crisis in the Corporate Area, persons are being urged to regularly check their water supply connections and fixtures to ascertain whether there are defects.

National Water Commission (NWC) Corporate Public Relations Manager Charles Buchanan said many issues of poor water supply at a property may be related to or made worse with the pipeline on the property.

In a statement Monday afternoon, the NWC said it has found anomalies at several properties, often depriving its customers of  service.

Mr Buchanan said this is always a problem, but now that many parts of the network are operating with below-normal volumes, pressures and other abnormalities, it is even more important to check.

The NWC also pointed to instances where, although water is reaching the meter at good pressure, leaks, blockages or even a locked valve on the customer side of the connection prevent water from reaching other parts of the customer's property.
