Civil servant arrested for breaching Corruption Prevention Act

 
 A civil servant is behind bars after being arrested for accepting money to clear a criminal record.
 
The Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau has charged Horace Anthony Gayle, a records clerk, with breaches of  the Corruption Prevention Act. 
 
Gayle pleaded guilty yesterday when he appeared in the St. Andrew Parish Court. 
 
He was remanded until November 25 when he will be sentenced.
 
A statement from the police says Gayle was arrested on November 11 during a sting operation.
 
He was reportedly caught collecting $45,000.
 
According to the police, the funds were the remainder of  $110,000 he had solicited to produce and deliver a clear a police record for an applicant.
 
It's reported that the applicant was ineligible based on his criminal record.
