Clarendon police working to rid parish of criminal gangs

The Clarendon police is now moving to dismantle several criminal gangs operating in the parish.

Superintendent David White, head of operations in the parish, said many of these alleged gang members have been targeted and in last few months a number of them have been taken into custody, arrested and charged.

"We would have made some in-road with some of them, in terms of taking many of their supporters off the street and in custody and there are a couple now that we still have that we are targeting and we'll continue the drive to remove them," he told RJR News.

A total of 35 persons have been murdered in Clarendon since January.
