CMU Council chairman Hyacinth Bennett resigns

Hyacinth Bennett, Chairman of the Caribbean Maritime University Council, has resigned as the corruption scandal at the institution deepens.
 
Karl Samuda, Minister with responsibility for Education, confirmed that Mrs Bennett was no longer at the helm of the CMU Council.
 
Mr. Samuda, who was speaking Monday afternoon with RJR's Dionne Jackson Miller, said Mrs Bennett decided that "in the interest of all concerned and based on what has transpired over the last few days and so, that it was best for her to tender her resignation." 
 
Asked what was the fate of the rest of the board, Mr. Samuda said he would make a statement Tuesday in Parliament at 2 o'clock where he would "outline everything in greater detail."
