Construction of new hospital in St. James to commence in May

Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton has confirmed that construction of  the 220-bed Western Children & Adolescents Hospital in Montego Bay, St. James will commence by May this year, with the contractor already selected.
The state-of-the-art facility will be built on the compound of Cornwall Regional Hospital.

Building supplies for the project have started arriving at the construction site.

The Government of  China has provided US$36 million in funding to the Jamaican Government under an Economic and Technical Cooperation agreement to construct the Western Children and Adolescents Hospital.

In November 2017, Dr. Tufton signed a memorandum of  understanding with the United Nations Office for Project Services to help with plans for the facility.
