Detective Corporal Lloyd Knight, who is among the accused in the Uchence Wilson gang trial, on Monday strongly denied being a member of the criminal organisation.
Giving sworn testimony before the Home Circuit Court, Corporal Knight said he did not know Uchence Wilson and members of his network.
He told the court the first time he heard of Uchence Wilson was when he was charged and brought before the court.
He also denied suggestions by prosecutors that he met with Mr. Wilson who gave him money and stolen phone cards.
Corporal Knight was grilled by Chief Justice Sykes during Monday morning's proceedings.
The Chief Justice said he found it remarkable that the policeman, who was based as a detective in the St. Catherine North Division, had never heard of the gang or Uchence Wilson.
