Cop attacked by gunmen in serious but stable condition

A Corporal is in serious but stable condition after being attacked while on his way from work at the Guy's Hill Police Station in St. Catherine early Sunday.

It's reported that gunmen opened fire on his vehicle in Kitson Town in the parish  - hitting him in the face and thigh.

The incident comes days after Corporal Judith Williams died after being shot in East Kingston while on her way to work.

Head of the Police Federation Sergeant Raymond Wilson said the spate of attacks on members of the force is frightening.

"I find it very difficult to understand the spate of attacks in recent days. We are aware of the shooting of our female colleague and to wake up to this this morning - it is quite heartrending for cops on the ground  who require motivation in light of the spate of criminal activities to go out there and do a job  when we ourselves are being attacked," Wilson said.
