Four members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), who are accused of physically assaulting three suspects in their custody, were offered bail on Tuesday when they appeared in court on assault charges.
They are detective ccorporals Syndon Johnson and Otis Wright and detective constables Romaine Archer and Jamion Gray.
It is alleged that in 2015, the policemen, who were attached to the Constant Spring Police Station, went on an operation to find men who had stolen the private vehicle of one of the cops.
The vehicle was later recovered but it was reportedly scrapped.
Three suspects were detained and later charged with the theft of the vehicle.
Several months later, the accused men filed a complaint with the Inspectorate of Constabulary (IOC) that they were assaulted by the police while in custody.
INDECOM reportedly declined to take up the case.
The attorney for the cops has challenged the decision of the IOC to charge them, by arguing that the men were not placed on an identification parade.
The policemen, who were each offered bail in the sum of $100,000 are to return to court on June 2.
