Corporate Area fire hydrants to be repaired

Efforts are underway to repair a number of  fire hydrants in Kingston and St Andrew.

This comes in the wake of  Thursday's fire on Pechon Street in downtown Kingston in which an 82-year-old woman died ..

Senior Deputy Superintendent for the Kingston and St.Andrew Fire Brigade Patrick Gooden says efforts to extinguish the blaze were hampered by a non-functioning fire hydrant.

As a result, the team had to make several trips for water.

Gooden says the problem is due in part to residents tampering with the hydrant
