Councillors concerned about rodent infestation in St. Elizabeth

Councillors at the St. Elizabeth Municipal Corporation are raising concern about reports of an increase in the rodent population in major commercial centres across the parish.

At Thursday's monthly sitting of the Municipal Corporation, councillors said the poor collection of garbage is a major contributor to the increase in the rodent population.

Everald Lewis, Chief Public Health Inspector for St. Elizabeth, said a combined effort is needed to eradicate the rodent population.

He said the health department is ready to collaborate with the relevant government agencies and business operators to tackle the problem.
