The Supreme Court has granted an injunction blocking the Police Services Commission (PSC) from retiring a member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) in the public interest.
Lawyers for Assistant Superintendent Udine Downy obtained the injunction on Tuesday.
The court also granted leave for Judicial Review of the decision of the Police Services Commission.
ASP Downy applied for the injunction after receiving a letter from the PSC on February 24 stating that she was being retired in the public interest.
The Commission said its decision was based on allegations of misconduct made against the Assistant Superintendent, who is now an attorney.
In applying for the injunction, attorney Bert Samuels argued that his client was being retired based on unspecified and undated allegations against her.
The matter is to be heard on May 9.
