The Jamaican Supreme Court has granted an injunction restraining the University of the West Indies from removing Dr Brendan Bain as Director of the Caribbean HIV/AIDS Regional Training Network (CHART).
The injunction was granted on Friday afternoon and will remain in effect until the hearing of a lawsuit challenging the termination of his contract.
The claim contains fifteen grounds on which the order is being sought. Among them are that Dr. Bain was issued with a termination letter even though his employer expressed trust and confidence in him.
It said the letter was issued on the basis of a disagreement with expert testimony given by him in the Supreme Court of Belize in 2012.
Dr. Bain's attorneys argue that the disagreement was expressed by third parties and not his employers.
