Curfew imposed in sections of Dempshire Pen, St. Catherine

The continued gang war between members of the Clansman gang and the break-away One Don gang forced the authorities to impose a curfew in sections of Dempshire Pen in Spanish Town, St Catherine.

The curfew, which began at 6 am o'clock yesterday, will remain in effect until 6 o'clock tomorrow morning.

The boundaries of the curfew are as follows:

North along Greendale main road from the Rio Cobre at Shelter Rock to Jones Avenue at the football field.

East along Jones Avenue from Greendale main road, approximately 300 metres to the southern  boundary.

South along an imaginary line about 220 metres from the eastern boundary to Rio Cobre at Shelter Rock.

West along Rio Cobre from the southern boundary to Greendale main road.

During the hours of the curfew, all persons within the boundaries are required to remain within their premises unless authorized in writing by the ground commander.

Members of the Clansman and One Don gangs have been engaged in a bloody battle for turf over the last several month, leaving a number of persons dead and others nursing gunshot wounds.
Meanwhile, a senior investigator told RJR News that more than 20 persons have been murdered over the last two months as the two gangs intensify their attacks on each other.

He said the police want more military personnel in the St Catherine North Division to quell the violence.

Several men were detained yesterday during operations conducted under the curfew.
