Delta flight from Montego Bay aborted, after flight deck warning detected

Delta Airlines has confirmed that there was an incident aboard one of its flights in Montego Bay on Monday, Jamaica, which caused a flight to be aborted.

The airline, in a statement released a short while ago, said that the crew of Delta flight 304 from Montego Bay to Atlanta observed a flight deck warning of a possible cargo hold fire on the Boeing 737-800 "and quickly activated fire suppression systems."

Customers evacuated the aircraft via slides onto the tarmac at Montego Bay-Sangster International Airport while first responders were dispatched to the aircraft, the airline said.

"Right now, our preliminary information is that all 160 customers and six crew are safely off the aircraft on the tarmac with no reported injuries. Reports from Delta personnel on scene are that no fire is present. Delta teams are working to arrange another aircraft to continue the flight. Delta’s top priority is the safety of our customers and crew," the statement concluded.
