Speaking at the first meeting of the Negril Destination Assurance Committee on Thursday, Bartlett said Jamaica’s tourism product must be of the highest level, in order for the destination to remain attractive.
He said the aim is to improve infrastructure in Negril and engage with residents to ensure that the town and Jamaica are viewed as favourable to visitors.
The Negril Committee comprises representatives of the Negril Green Island Area Local Planning Authority; the police and army; the National Solid Waste Management Authority and the Westmoreland Municipal Corporation.
A member of the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management also serves on the committee.
