Dominica declares state of emergency, braces for Isaac

A State of Emergency has been declared in Dominica as the island braces for the effects of Tropical Storm Issac today.
National Security Minister Rayburn Blackmoore says it will remain in effect until noon Friday.
This is in addition to an islandwide curfew.
Police officers will be deployed islandwide with a number of check point at various locations.
Threaten western Caribbean
Tropical Storm Isaac, after plowing through the Lesser Antilles with flooding rain and gusty winds, will threaten the western Caribbean by next week.
Isaac will pass through the Lesser Antilles Thursday, near Dominica and Martinique.
It will then continue on a westward path through the Caribbean into Sunday.
Tropical storm warnings have continued for the islands of Martinique, Dominica and Guadeloupe.
Wind gusts are in excess of 50 miles per hour.
Forecasters say even with the storm's brisk movement, rainfall can be heavy enough to trigger localised flooding.
Tree and power line damage will also be possible.
