The 57 Dominicans who were caught fishing illegally in Jamaica's waters pleaded guilty in court yesterday.
They were fined a total of J$1.7 million.
The court ordered that the vessel, catch and equipment be seized.
The judge stated in his submission that a clear message must be sent to deter others from fishing illegally in Jamaica's waters.
The Dominicans will be transported back home with the assistance of the Coast Guard.
