Downtown Kingston to undergo changes to facilitate increased Christmas activity

Alrick Francis, City Inspector for the KSAMC

The Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) says changes are being made to facilitate the increase in commercial activity in downtown Kingston for the Christmas period.

However, City Inspector Alrick Francis says it will not be a free for all as the streets are still expected to be as clear as possible.

"There are sidewalks downtown and while throughout the year it is not designated vending area, we realise that for the festive season, accommodations can be made," he said, adding that measures are being put in place to facilitate smooth parking.

Mr. Francis said consideration is being given to opening up no parking zones.

The Municipal Corporation has met with the Police High Command to boost security.
