Driver in hit and run which killed elderly man warned for prosecution

The driver of the car involved in a hit and run along the Pond Side main road in St. Thomas on Tuesday which claimed the life a man has been warned for prosecution.  
     
The driver who reportedly fled the scene following the incident remains in police custody while the police await a report from the traffic examination officer.             
 
Meanwhile, the senior citizen who was killed in the incident has been identified as 64 year old Wilfred Garrell, otherwise called Trevor of Hampstead in St. Thomas.
     
It is reported that about 5:45 p.m., Mr. Garrell was crossing the road when he was hit by a Honda motorcar. The car reportedly sped away.  
Mr. Garrell died at hospital.
     
The driver was reportedly chased by another motorist. The police were called and the driver was intercepted and taken into custody.
