Dutch police say they have shot and arrested a man who wielded a knife at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport.
The emergency prompted the authorities to evacuate part of Schiphol, one of Europe's busiest airports.
The military police say the situation is under control and the airport is safe.
No other injuries were reported.
A police spokesman told AD newspaper there was no assumption of a terrorist motive.
The military police said on Twitter that the man had been overpowered and taken away.
Schiphol Plaza, a shopping area near passport control, was temporarily evacuated while the authorities responded to the incident.
