Eight more "scammers" arrested in Manchester and St. Elizabeth

Eight persons from St. Elizabeth and Manchester have been arrested and charged under the Law Reform Fraudulent Transactions Act, for suspected lottery scam activities.

They were taken into custody between Tuesday night and yesterday during an operation led by the Manchester Proactive Investigations Unit and the Divisional Fugitive Apprehension Team. The police carried out a four hour operation in Manchester. Two men in a car were seen acting in a suspicious manner.

During a search of  the vehicle several sheets containing identity information of  persons living overseas, and cellular phones were allegedly found. The operation continued in St. Elizabeth were several premises were searched. Six persons were arrested after they were allegedly found in possession of  lottery scamming paraphernalia. All those arrested will appear in court on August 4.
