Entertainment activities banned in parts of St. Elizabeth

The St. Elizabeth Police have placed a ban on the staging of entertainment activities across several police areas in the parish due to high levels of violent activities.

The areas are Black River, Lacovia, Santa Cruz, Lacovia and Maggotty.

In a letter obtained by RJR News dated February 9, which was sent to the St. Elizabeth Municipal Corporation, Superintendent Catherine Lord, head of the St. Elizabeth Police, said no approval will be given by the police for the staging of entertainment activities in these communities.

The letter outlines the following communities in the Black River Police area as Brompton, Ffyfes Pen, Spring Park, New Town and Vineyard.

A total ban has been placed on all communities in the New Market Police area, while a ban has been placed on the New Holland community in the Lacovia area.

In the Santa Cruz police area, the ban is imposed in the Leeds and Smooth Land communities, and on the Elderslie community in the Maggotty Police area.

The letter also stated that a ban on all bike and car shows in the parish was imposed as of February 7.

During an address to monthly meeting of the St. Elizabeth Municipal Corporation, the St. Elizabeth Police head said a review will be done on the areas once the violence is reduced.
