Evidence suggests 14 year old boy died by suicide - INDECOM

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) says the evidence so far suggests that the death of 14 year old Wolmer's Boys High student, J'Quan Forbes, is a case of suicide.

The body of the teenager was found with a bullet wound to the head at his home in Olympic Gardens, Kingston on Monday night. His father, who is attached to the Denham Town Police Station, is facing a charge of negligence.

Hamish Campbell, Assistant Commissioner of INDECOM, speaking on RJR's Hotline on Thursday morning, said there was a suicide note at the scene, which will be examined by the coroner. Mr. Campbell said part of the investigation is to determine whether there was a bullet in the chamber of the gun.

"One wouldn't be wandering around their own private home with a loaded firearm with a bullet in the chamber...It would be unwise and is not recommended, that's how these tragic accidents here and elsewhere can occur," he said.

INDECOM said it is also investigating the relationship between J'Quan and his father, including an enquiry at the school.
