Several communities in St Ann were left without electricity on Saturday night after an explosion at the Jamaica Public Service’s Cardiff Hall sub-station in Runaway Bay .
Several residents reported hearing a loud explosion minutes to nine o’clock and fire was next seen coming from the direction of the station.
Three fire units from St Ann’s Bay and Ocho Rios rushed to the area but when they got there the fire had already been brought under control.
The damage at the power plant caused power outage in Runaway Bay, Discovery Bay, Browns Town, Cave Valley, Alexandria, Watt Town and other areas communities.
