Fire damages five houses in Tawes Meadows, St. Catherine

Five houses in Tawes Meadows, St. Catherine were damaged by fire Thursday morning.
 
The incident affected almost 30 residents, including 16 children, who lived in the two bedroom units. One female has reportedly received minor injuries. 
 
Emelio Ebanks, Public Relations Officer at the Jamaica Fire Brigade, said about 30 firefighters from four units responded to the blaze after 10 o'clock. 
 
The Brigade is still trying to ascertain the cause of the fire. 
 
Babsy Grange, Member of Parliament for St. Catherine Central in which the community is located, has committed to providing assistance to the affected families "in the fastest possible time so they can get back to normality."
 
She commended members of the community for assisting the families to move their belongings quickly, which prevented the damage from being worse.
