“Only two weeks ago the Minister of National Security came to the house and reported that for the month of July and August, that murders were four per day. What is shocking that one week after he reported, based on the figure we now have 34 murders during the course of last week, which is more than five per day , this is a shocking state of affairs,” he said.

He said the Simpson-Miller administration has been silent on the measures aimed at reversing the major spike in murders.

Meanwhile, 39 more persons were killed up to last Saturday compared with the corresponding period last year. This reflects a four per cent jump in murders for the period under review.
