A five year-old boy is in hospital being treated for bullet wounds after being shot by a gunman who invaded his home in Kingston.
The boy's mother, 27 year old Shontoll McCarty, was killed in the attack which occurred Monday morning on Nelson Street in Admiral Town.
About 1 o'clock, the boy and his mother were asleep when a man kicked open the door and opened gunfire.
Ms McCarty tried to hide under the bed but was shot and killed.
The boy was also shot but managed to flee to a relative's house nearby.
Investigators have not established a motive for the attack.
