Former Member of Parliament Marjorie Taylor is dead.
Taylor, a member of the opposition People’s National Party, who was ailing for sometime died this afternoon.
For several years, she worked closely with the late Prime MInister Michael Manley as his Special Assistant .
She was also the Councillor for the Norman Gardens Division of the Kingston and St Andrew Cooperation (KSAC).
On Manley's retirement from public life she succeeded him as Member of Parliament for Eastern Kingston and Port Royal.
Taylor was also a Senator and Minister of State in the Ministry of Local Government.
After her retirement, she was appointed Jamaica's first Ambassador for Children, the office which preceded the Office of the Children's Advocate.
In a statement this afternoon, PNP President Dr. Peter Phillips said Taylor gave outstanding service to her community, adding that she was passionate about the upliftment of the Jamaican people.
