Former Trustee in Bankruptcy says all is not lost for Cash Plus depositors

Hugh Wildman

Former Trustee in Bankruptcy, Hugh Wildman, is calling for a declaration of the assets of the collapsed Cash Plus entity, so depositors can assess their chances of recovering some of their investments.

Mr Wildman is asserting that, based on the work he did when he was in the post, funds should have been left over to repay depositors.

The discussions about repayment have intensified since Wednesday's acquittal of former Cash Plus boss Carlos Hill, and his admission that he wants to repay his clients. However, questions have arisen about where the funds will come from.

Mr Wildman told RJR News that the current Trustee in Bankruptcy should be able to give some disclosure about the status of the funds held by Cash Plus.

Mr Wildman has shared his opinion on the amount that depositors should expect when Cash Plus assets are located. At the time he was there, he said, a payout of five cents to the dollar was possible but he wanted more than that.

He gave examples of the Cash Plus assets he handled during his tenure as Trustee in Bankruptcy. These included $5million of the $8million for the Drax Hall property. Rental of $500.000 monthly at the CMP complex as well as the securing of two townhouses.
