The five persons arrested on Wednesday by the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA) remain in custody as investigations continue into cases of fraud uncovered at the Accountant General's Department.
A police source told RJR News that investigators commenced interviews on Wednesday.
A senior employee at the Department is among the detainees.
MOCA investigators allege that employees of the Accountant General's Department diverted funds from the accounts of deceased pensioners. It's reported that tens of millions of dollars were stolen in the racket.
The probe began several weeks ago and a Canadian forensic auditing firm has been hired to conduct a detailed examination.
