G2K demands McNeill retract claims about members' TPDCo employment

G2K Legal Advisor Andre Marriott-Blake

Generation 2000 (G2K), the young professional affiliate of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), is calling for Dr. Wykeham McNeill, Opposition Spokesman on Tourism, to retract statements he made regarding its members getting jobs at the Tourism Product Development Company (TPDCo).

In his contribution to the 2018/19 Sectoral Debate in the House of Representatives on Tuesday, Dr. McNeill asserted that members of G2K have been hired at the state-run entity.

But G2K Legal Advisor Andre Marriott-Blake says claims by Dr. McNeil that he, the General Secretary of G2K and the Vice President are employed at TPDCo are not true.

In an interview with RJR News Thursday morning, Mr. Marriott-Blake said the only truth is that G2K President Stephen Edwards is the Director of Projects at TPDCo. However, he noted that Mr. Edwards is qualified and was interviewed for the post.

Mr. Marriott-Blake said the focus should not be on the political affiliation of individuals but whether they are competent to do the job and due process was followed.

Mr. Marriott-Blake went on to accuse Dr. McNeill of abusing his Parliamentary privilege, as he has made similar untruthful allegations in the past.
