Gov't to address disruption caused by road improvement projects

Prime Minister Andrew Holness

Prime Minister Andrew Holness has said the dislocation being experienced by residents and motorists due to major road projects now underway needs to be better managed.

Motorists and residents have been complaining that they are suffering severe inconvenience due to work taking place on Constant Spring Road, Hagley Park Road, the Mandela Highway and the Junction Road.

Mr. Holness said the government will be addressing the dislocation from the projects to avoid disrupting the economic survival of the people.

While the Prime Minister admitted that the projects were "on a tight schedule", he said the country must get used to the pace of growth which is the "synergetic effect of having several projects all moving together which literally forces the expansion of your absorptive capacity."

He was speaking at a media briefing on Wednesday.
