Gov't to help enable Andrews Memorial Hospital to deal with COVID-19 cases

Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton

There could soon be changes at Andrews Memorial Hospital in St. Andrew to enable it to deal with COVID-19 cases.

Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton announced Wednesday that progress was made following a meeting with the hospital's management.

The meeting followed the public notice issued by the hospital that its healthcare workers will no longer see patients with symptoms of COVID-19.

According to Dr. Tufton, an agreement has been made for a proposal from the hospital to be submitted to include an explanation of its shortcomings. He said the government will then take the necessary steps "to discuss how we can get that hospital as a critical part of the response to the challenges we face."
