Gov't to spend $695m on public sector energy conservation

The Government of Jamaica is to spend $695 million in the new fiscal year to enhance Jamaica’s Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation measures in the public sector.

The money has been set aside in the 2017-2018 Estimates of Expenditure, now before the House of Representatives.

It is anticipated that the measures will enable the implementation of an energy efficiency/conservation baseline awareness survey and the establishment of a National Energy Efficiency Institute.
