GSAT gets underway after one week delay caused by Riverton dump

Standby arrangements are in place as 38,470 students prepare to sit the Grade Six Achievement Test, GSAT, which begins this morning.

The two day exam is being held following a one week delay due to the smoke from the fire at the Riverton City Disposal site. Education Minister Ronald Thwaites told RJR News there are contingencies in the event that schools are still affected by the smoke. The candidates will sit the examination at one thousand 112 centres across the island.

And despite the one week delay the GSAT results will still be released on the original schedule.
