Nearly a dozen members of the Montego Bay-based G-City gang were taken into custody on Friday following a major police/military operation in Salt Spring in St James.
Three high powered rifles and 140 rounds of ammunition were seized in the six-hour operation.
Superintendent Michael Phipps, head of the Area 1 Criminal Investigation Bureau, said the cordon and search operation was conducted in Angie Lane, Salt Spring for wanted men and criminal suspects said to be aligned to the G-City gang.
During the operation five open lots and more than 20 homes were searched, while more than 50 people were also searched by the cops.
The police seized three assault rifles including two AR 15 and a Colt Carbine M16, found buried in an open lot.
Ten men, said to be associated with the G-City gang, were also detained for questioning in relation to an ongoing gang feud in Salt Spring.
