Hampton School searching for new principal

Principal of the Hampton School for Girls in St. Elizabeth, Heather Murray, is to proceed on pre-retirement leave at the institution this year.

The Munro and DickinsonTrust, which governs the operation of the school, has started the search for a new principal for September.

The post was advertised in the newspapers over the weekend.

A source told RJR News that Mrs Murray who reached the retirement age before the start of the 2016/2017 school year was granted a year's extension.

However, a decision was taken not to extend the contract beyond August 2017.

The source, however, stated that it is not clear whether recent events involving Mrs Murray played a part in her stay not being extended at the school.

Mrs Murray was thrust into the lime light earlier this year when she turned up at the Black River Court in support of embattled Moravian minister Rupert Clarke who is facing sexual offence charges.
