Holness defends handling of Heroes Circle redevelopment

Prime Minister Andrew Holness has defended the government's handling of the Heroes Circle Redevelopment Project.

At the recent RJR Gleaner Communications Group town hall meeting, residents of Allman Town raised several objections and complained about a lack of information on the project.

Mr. Holness responded to the criticisms during Wednesday morning's media briefing, arguing that, while the town hall was necessary, the meeting might have been "hijacked" by political operatives.

"I think that there has to be another meeting - and I do intend to have such a meeting - to place on record much of what was said, which was incorrect," he declared.

Mr. Holness admitted that there are gaps in information relating to the project, however, he contended that people have exploited those gaps, making the project appear to be "some devious connivance of the government to undermine the people of the community."
