Prime Minister Andrew Holness and Opposition Leader Dr. Peter Phillips have agreed to renounce the connection between politics and gangs and walk together through violence prone communities.
It is one of the outcomes from Thursday's national stakeholder meeting, which is expected to kick start the process of developing a plan for tackling crime and violence.
A joint release from the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce and Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica regarding the meeting said a working group was also appointed to develop a strategic process.
It said the working group has been mandated to produce an interim report by November 30, after which the full group will reconvene.
The summit reportedly emphasized that the work towards solutions for solving crime should be data driven and benefit from expert advice.
