Prime Minister Andrew Holness has assumed oversight responsibility for the Science and Technology portfolio.
The Prime Minister, who made the announcement Thursday, said he temporarily took on this duty on Wednesday.
It came more than a week after Dr. Andrew Wheatley resigned as Minister of Science and Technology.
Mr. Holness, who was speaking at the official opening of the Inter-American Development Bank's new office on Montrose Road in St. Andrew, said it will give him the opportunity to delve deeply into the operations of some of the bureaucratic structures.
Mr. Holness took over the Energy portfolio last month, following allegations of weaknesses in the governance and management at state-run oil refinery Petrojam, and other state agencies that fall under the portfolio.
