Hospital workers return to work

Normality is expected to return today to the Mandeville Hospital in Manchester following a protest by medical records staff.

The more than 40 employees who Wednesday demonstrated in front of the institution to highlight poor working conditions are due back on the job Thursday morning.

Among their complaints were inadequate space for storage of patients’ records and the absence of a proper lunch area.

The hospital has promised to create additional space which should be available in another week.

General Secretary of the Union of Technical, Administrative and Supervisory Personnel, UTASP, St. Patrice Ennis, has warned that while the protest has ended, the workers will again take action if the hospital does not deliver on its promise.
