Charles Benbow, the attorney representing Mr. Campbell
Gregory Campbell, who has been charged with the murder of his wife, Carolyn Davis Campbell, was offered bail in the sum of $1 million with sureties when he appeared before the Manchester Parish Court Friday morning.
As a condition of his bail, he will have to surrender his travel documents and report to the police daily.
He is scheduled to return to court on October 17.
Mrs Davis Campbell, who was a teacher at the Bishop Gibson High School, was fatally shot at her home in Melrose Mews, Manchester on July 10.
Mr. Campbell, who was also at the house, was not injured.
Charles Benbow, the attorney representing Mr. Campbell, believes the case against his client is flawed as "there has been no causal link to link Mr. Campbell with the death of his wife."
Mr. Benbow also denied comments that his client gave conflicting information to the police, noting that Mr. Campbell was interviewed 14 times by the police "and on every occasion he volunteered himself; he volunteered the answers."
"In fact," he said, "in one of the question and answer sessions, he gave 205 answers to 205 questions and not one of those questions deviate from information he supplied to police and none could cause the police to proffer a substantial charge on him."
