The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has launched a probe into the fatal shooting of a man in Salt Pond, Spanish Town, St. Catherine early Wednesday morning.
He has been identified as Nesta Halstead.
According to a report received by INDECOM, fourteen policemen went to premises on Salt Pond Road to execute a warrant under the Firearms Act. When they arrived there was a reported confrontation.
Halstead was shot and taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
It was reported that a rifle along with other illegal items were found at the premises.
