INDECOM probing fatal shooting of mentally ill man by police

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is probing an incident in May Pen, Clarendon on Thursday afternoon in which a man, who was said to be mentally ill, was shot by the police.
 
He has been identified as 37 year old Damian Briscoe.
 
Mr. Briscoe was reportedly seen with a knife and a machete chasing passersby about 2 o'clock.
 
It is reported that he tried to chop a high school student but she escaped.
 
The police were called and Mr. Briscoe was instructed to drop his weapons. He refused and lunged at the police officers.
 
He was shot.
 
Mr. Briscoe died while undergoing treatment at hospital.
