Jack's Hill bush fire extinguished

A bush fire that had been raging in Jack's Hill, St. Andrew since Wednesday night, was extinguished Thursday afternoon by the Jamaica Fire Brigade.
 
Assistant Commissioner Andrew Russell, head of the Brigade's Area One Division, told Radio Jamaica News the brigade was notified of the fire sometime after 8 p.m. Wednesday.
 
Seventeen firefighters from two fire units battled the blaze along with help from the Jamaica Defence Force, whose helicopters dropped water over the area.
 
Assistant Commissioner Russell said it took about nine hours to extinguish the fire. 
 
He said there was no damage to property.
