The Jamaica Household Workers Association is to submit a proposal for the granting of a wage increase to its members. The proposal will be sent to the Minimum Wage Advisory Commission which is now conducting a review of the National Minimum Wage and the Minimum Wage for Security Guards.
The Association, which has 3,000 members islandwide, has called a meeting of its executive on Friday to decide on the increase it will be seeking. Its president, Shirley Pryce, said this will be done, bearing in mind the current economic conditions.
Members of the public and interested organizations have until August 30 to make submissions to the Minimum Wage Advisory Commission. Persons who make recommendations may be asked to appear before the Commission.
