Jamaican gangster nabbed by US Marshalls in Ohio

A Jamaican fugitive who was wanted on charges of  drug trafficking and attempted murder was nabbed on Friday by U.S Marshals in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team arrested Andrew Backit,40, who was wanted on a 2010 outstanding federal indictment for conspiracy to distribute drugs and possession of  a firearm in relation to a drug trafficking charge.

The federal charges originate out the Eastern District of  New York.

Backit, who is currently on the US Postal Inspection Service’s Most Wanted list, is also wanted for attempted murder in New York City. 

According to US authorities, Backit is a member of  the “Fatherless Crew” based in Rema.

The group established a network in Queens, New York after leaders of  the organization fled law enforcement in Jamaica.

Several members of  the organization were arrested and convicted, however; Backit remained at large. 

He is currently in federal custody in Cincinnati and will be transferred to the Eastern District of  New York after appearing in court.
