Jamaicans among 39 fugitives arrested in the US

Jamaicans are among 39 fugitives arrested in the US for various crimes and human rights violations.
 
The 30 males and nine females were held during a nationwide operation by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency.
 
The operation took place August 27 to 29.
 
ICE said the foreigners arrested during the operation have outstanding removal orders and are subject to deportation.
 
Sixteen individuals are also criminal immigrants in the US with convictions for crimes including: domestic violence, drug distribution, firearm possession, fraud and theft.
 
Some of the other persons arrested are from El Salvador, Guatemala, China, Sierra Leone and Sudan. 
 
Fourteen of the individuals who are from Central America are implicated in numerous human rights violations against civilians, including the capture, arrest and transport of civilians who were subsequently mistreated, and in some cases, killed.
