As Jamaicans prepare for Hurricane Matthew there has been a major rush on supermarkets and other stores.
Shoppers have flooded large and small establishments to stock up on tin products and other non-perishable food items. There is also a rush to purchase candles, flash lights and batteries.
Long lines were at some gas stations while hardware stores have seen a significant increase in customers.
During a visit to Phil's Hardware on Constant Spring Road in St. Andrew on Saturday morning, many persons were seen buying rope, tarpaulin and water boots.
Megamart on Waterloo Road in St. Andrew was busy on Friday night and Saturday morning. Long lines were visible from as early as 6 o'clock.
A supermarket operator in St Thomas told RJR News that he was running out of non-perishable foodstuff such as biscuits.
